Generating a password and handling it safely

Character settings, generator limits and the difference between a password and its strength estimate.

Check the destination's requirements

Choose an accepted length and character groups. When every selected group is required, length must be at least the number of groups. A custom alphabet changes the space of possibilities: a few distinct characters give fewer possible passwords than a broad alphabet at the same length.

How the result is handled

JavaScript creates the password in the current tab using Web Crypto. Security tools do not keep result history or automatically place results in sharing links. If browser generation fails, no password is requested from a server fallback. After copying, the value remains in the system clipboard until replaced by another copy operation.

What the generator does not verify

The tool cannot know whether you used the password before, whether another site accepts it or whether your computer is secure. Do not paste working passwords into error reports. Use separate values for separate accounts and store them in a suitable password manager. An estimate based on length and alphabet cannot account for every way an account might be compromised.

Questions and answers

Is the password generated on the server?

No. This tool generates it in the browser and does not use a server fallback on failure.

Is the result kept in history?

History is disabled for security tools. Copying separately places the value in your device's clipboard.
